The view from the roof
Today we took things at a rather relaxed pace. We had several trips booked and were off on safari the next day so we took the opportunity to recover from the travelling of the previous day. We got up at around 6:00am. Being on the equator, the sun rises at 6:00am and sets at 6:00pm all year round and as our room faced the east, as soon as the sun had broke free of the horizon, sunlight had filled our room and we were woken from our sleep. I'm not complaining, with the clear blue skies and views from our balcony, the sunrise was good to see and we wouldn't have missed it for the world. Got showered and headed for breakfast, we were disappointed not to be sharing our table with monkeys as we did yesterday.

Following Breakfast we had a wonder around the hotel, and then on to the beach where we bumped in to some local traders who did their best to part us from our money, and they were in fact, quite successful. Lisa and I were separated as I tried my hand at haggling with one trader only to find he was much better than I was. Following this defeat each trader realised I was a new to the country and had no idea what the goods were worth. However, Once bitten, as they say, and they soon realised I wasn't spending any more money. Full of shame I looked around for Lisa who (I was happy to discover) was doing even worse than I, to the extent that I had to go back to the room for more money. Lisa did score one minor victory, she had taken her hair band off to have her hair plaited when a trader noticed it and swapped it for a hand painted soap-stone egg. Lisa wasn't given a choice in the exchange but was on the better end of the deal.

It was too hot for one of the locals
Slightly poorer we went back to the hotel and got ourselves a drink and some lunch (all inclusive rocks) to help recover from the ordeal. I spent the rest of the afternoon with my camera taking pictures of our hotel. Then I got the video camera and took it on the same tour. Yes, the hotel staff were probably thinking "Huh, British Tourist!"

Following a quick dip in the pool we got changed and went to the Italian Restaurant within the hotel complex. After this we popped across to the bar where we met up with Mark and Gwin and sank some Tusker.
