The Voyager Beach Hotel and Resort, Mombasa
So what was our hotel like? It was great, from the staff to the facilities. Sure, not everything was perfect, but nothing ever is.
The Rooms
The rooms (for we had 2, one before the safari, then a different room after our safari) were basic but clean and comfortable. The cleaner was very thorough and every surface was cleaned. There was a room safe (at a small charge) and mosquito nets were provided.
The Food
The food was more than I'd hoped for. I was expecting poorly prepared food in the hot climate. What we got was food prepared as though it was for royalty. There were 4 restaurants.
The main restaurant (the only place where breakfast was served) and this was always self service, whatever meal you might be eating. There was always a large variety of courses to choose from and never dissapointed us.
The lighthouse Restaurant was more of a snack bar, that served toasted sandwiches and the like.
There were two themed restaurants, an Italian and a Seafood restaurant. Both served excellent food, and I especially enjoyed the lobster at the Smugglers Cove (the seafood gaff).
The Facilities
There was certainly a lot to do. There were 3 pools. The fun pool, the sports pool and, eerrrr, another one. The staff organised plenty of activities including beach football, volleyball, tennis tounrments and even Swahili lessons. Included for free was snorkelling equipment hire, Topper Sailing and kayaking.
The Staff
Well the staff at Voyager Beach win the Gary Hurdman award for friendliness. It seems that every member of the team worked hard for Myself and Lisa personally. Whatever they get paid, it's not enough.
